Yesterday I read an article about using the "nifty fifty", the 50mm prime lens (meaning it doesn't zoom). It has been a while since I deliberately went out with the purpose of taking good pictures. So I decided to take the 50 out with a few certain aims. But first, some blueberry and kitten pictures.

My aims were simple: first, to focus on (pun wasn't intended, but it is now) composition, and second, practice selectiveness. That is, to aim for one picture of each scene. Okay, well maybe that didn't happen much, but I did do better at discriminating than I normally do. I deleted a lot.
These pictures show the difference between a wide aperture (probably about f/2, in the above pictures) and a small aperture (probably about f/16 in the picture below).
I really liked how these pictures turned out. The color is much more striking than it actually is.
Kristen found one of the chickens' nests with two eggs in it. I like these pictures.

I didn't realize until I went through the pictures later that I had caught the fly on my leg mid-flight.

I thought I was done, but as I looked through the pictures inside, I turned the camera around for some self-portraits, and then to the game of Candyland I played with my siblings, both of which turned out pretty interesting.

If I counted correctly there are 22 pictures of Kristen-including the ones of her feet. So much for being selective...
ReplyDeleteHum, I wouldn't have guessed there were that many. Regardless, they are of approximately nine different scenes, and except for maybe the feet and egg ones I was pretty selective.
